Midweek Getaway

Been home too long - don't want to get too comfy! So off to Menifee (near Temecula) for a two-night stay using Ruth's dad's Thousand Trails Family Membership at Wilderness Lakes NACO RV campground. Since we don't have an RV, we rented an itty-bitty cabin for the two nights available. It was a tight fit (about 6" each side of the queen bed in the bedroom) but otherwise cozy and comfy. The ducks and geese still populate the area and the cows next door were still there, but luckily the breeze blew the right way most of the time. We watched what looked like two baby storks in a nest up high be fed by mom who was the same size. I think it's about time for her to teach those guys to fly and fend for themselves.

We enjoyed the pool and spa and became very lazy. So this is retirement! It'll do.

Eureka

Hooray - I found the camera cable so I was able to download the missing photos of Chicago from the internal camera memory. We enjoyed our walking "Sculpture Tour" and the very different architecture from what we're used to in Southern California. My favorite building was the Methodist Church with the lower floor loan building advertising their special loans. Wasn't there something about usury in the Bible?

We very much enjoyed Chicago and will look forward to visiting again sometime.

Our next trip(s): A cabin at Wilderness Lakes (Duck Slough) near Temecula next week, a trip to San Francisco Opera for Simon Boccanegro in September and another Mexico cruise in November with Myrtle (Don's mom) and her friend- this time with a verandah. Definitely moving up in the world!
